Missions
The Rubicon is new to the border, and most of her crew is newer. An Excelsior refitted for surveillance work and posted to watch a stretch of the Neutral Zone out of Starbase 234, she is there to listen, monitor, and keep a fragile peace from coming apart, which sounds simpler than it is on a line where both sides are always testing what they can get away with.
It is quiet work, right up until it isn't. The border specializes in situations with no clean answers, where the right call and the safe call are rarely the same one, and where a single misstep can start a war that fifty years of nerve has held off. The Romulans across the line are always watching. The Klingon allies are harder to manage than the enemy. And the trouble has a way of following closer to home than anyone would like.
This is the cold frontier. The line you don't cross.
