Coffee and Concealment - Part 2
Wade listened, appreciating the enthusiasm and thoughts from the other man. It was apparent he'd become used to the level of flexibility previously afforded to him, which wasn't a bad thing. However it did mean there would be some changes in procedure when it came to Blackwatch and his missions going forward.

"The team will get an overall mission objective brief. No one will go in at least not understanding the overall objective. However after that is when everyone will go to an individual briefing booth to authenticate and receive their part of the mission, assignments, expectations etc. You won't eb privy to their individual objectives. Just as they won't be privy to any high level sensitive information you'll be provided. Everyone will work in a vacuum. This way in the event someone is captured or lost, they can only expose their part of the mission. The main expectation for you is to lead your team through to objective completions. However if a team member goes down in the field, their objective is to be omitted unless further approved. Just make sure your people understand that." Wade stopped for a moment to sip some more if his coffee and allow the impact to settle in.

"Also before you and everyone else take their oath and sign the final document, I'll need you to complete an evaluation in the simulator. It can be one of many of your choosing, a scenario to evaluate your leadership in the field. And all evals must be done individually. I believe a couple other folks arrived with you, they'll need to do the same. If you have questions on it, I do have a number of other folks that have gone and completed theirs, to include your signals intelligence and recon specialists. I think it would eb good for you to meet with them and start building that team cohesion. I also assigned the Chief that came with you as your science specialist, you'll lead team Bulwark."

Sitting back in his chair, the Captain decided he would turn the floor over to Khalil since he had done so much speaking already. He just wasn't one for small talk usually in first meetings.

"Understood, Captain," Khalil said, his tone level. "I will ensure Team Bulwark understands that their individual boundaries, and we will all schedule our evaluations immediately."

Khalil savored the last of his coffee, setting the empty mug down. “At this time, my only other question is about Battle Stations. Should the Rubicon come under attack, Chief Barel and I can certainly lend a hand in engineering. And Dane, he’s ready to take a shift at the helm under instruction, of course. He qualified aboard the Galaxy on our way out.”

Samstone picked up the PADD on his desk and did a quick look at it. "Have everyone report to their respective department chief, it looks like Science for Chief Barel and the Chief Helmsman for Ensign Dane. Chief Engineer for yourself of course. They will assign muster stations. As far as participation in department duties or assignments, as long as they are in line with experience or training for your current roles, your team members may participate accordingly but are not required to. I can definitely see flight time a good thing for Ensign Dane, so he'll likely have the most time away from the training facilities for hands on work. Otherwise your team will be expected to spend time training and learning to work together, getting to understand and know one another. Your training will otherwise be conducted in the Blackwatch facilities, which are private for members only. Very few non Blackwatch members are allowed on those decks. Also until everyone takes their oaths, there are a number of facilities still off limits such as armories, equipment rooms, and the primary briefing suites. Soon enough you'll be getting into them. Otherwise all training facilities and public areas are available. Customs do apply for the enlisted, chief, and officer mess halls. Everyone needs room to decompress."

He realized his coffee was nearly gone too and checking the time, it was probably best to get ready for a meeting he had back on the starbase. "I should probably let you get settled in and get to work, you have a lot to do. But remember one thing, my office is always open, no matter the time of day. If you need to see me at 0300 hours, you hit the chime on my quarters. No questions asked."

"Thank you sir, I appreciate that. And I'll try not to bring friends home after dark." He smiled and extended his hand to his new Captain.

Wade extended his arm and returned the handshake. In many ways, he hoped that Khalil and everyone he led would make it home safe everytime, unscathed. But he knew that was unlikely. The responsibility of sending others into harms way and not being able to lead them directly had never been easy for him to deal with. Something leftover especially from his times in the cockpit.

"Best of luck in everything going forward Lieutenant. Welcome to Blackwatch."
