Solana had spent the night before filling containers with the necessary medications and drugs deemed necessary for the missions. Things she would control of course and prescribe or issue as needed. She had also been tasked with stocking all four of the Blackwatch transports and making sure the medical stations had everything necessary. It wasn't fun to say the least, but it was the life of a nurse.
She had gotten done with three of the four craft, no one else had been aboard the others. The last one had it's ramp closed so she had presumed it was empty as well. Entering her cade, she took a step back and the ramp began to slowly lower. Once it hit the deck, she grabbed the last container off of her cart and walked up into the ship, making her way to the med station.
Joker was sitting in his chair, uploading the latest navigation data from stellar cartography. It had been a long morning making watching the technicians pull his ship apart and now it was clean and nearly stocked for the next field trip. He sat comfortable watching the progress bar on the nav-computer slowly fill up, when the panel alerted him that the cargo ramp had been activated, "LT? is that you?" Joker emerged from the cockpit "oh" he smiled. "Hey, how are you?"
She looked up from the container after just setting it down "LT huh? Sure, I just think you have the wrong one. Lieutenant Vey, also known as Damona. Don't mind me, I'm just stocking all the drugs up. Have to be ready in case we get launch orders soon after the indoctrination. Nothing worse than not having all of this ready. I'm sure you know how details go. Or maybe not yet." She made a quick note of the single pip.
"Lieutenant Vey..Damona, I'm uh the uh pilot, Joker. Ensign Jaxom Dane," he pointed to himself. "They call me Joker," His face flushed and caught himself nervously babbling. "I'm waiting on nav to finish updating, and the Chief,uh Cinder to distribute her supplies on board the transports. I'm Kindof new to all of this but Starfield, Lieutenant Hoshino said if they don't need me up on the bridge, I should be down here or in the sim learning everything I can." His brain was screaming at him to chill and not be that guy. Holding onto what dignity and self respect he had left, "can I help? The navigation computer is doing its thing."
She smiled as he stumbled over his words. Being Risian she was used to it, but it never failed to amuse her. Plus she figured everyone deserved a break especially on their first posting. It was obvious this was his. "I would hope so, we don't want you flying us into an asteroid or anything, that would be a bad day." She lifted out a smaller container that was quite heavy and set it up onto the bed.
"Reach in and get the rest out of the container if you don't mind. And don't worry, when we start pulling out the hypos you won't be able to accidentally inject yourself, they're all locked at the moment. I'm not sure who Starfield and Cinder are yet, but why don't you tell me about yourself Joker." She figured giving him a chance relax some in casual conversation would help. It was likely in the future they'd be seeing enough hard times together.
"Well," he began to reach down, he tried to pull the whole container out with a single hand, the larger case held on tightly and started to lift up, slowly and finally released. "I learned to fly back on Deneva Colony and then I was taken by the Orion Syndicate, and they trusted me to fly their ship, so learned how to operate their com system. I started leaving breadcrumbs for Starfleet to find me. They did, and I went back home and school." Joker carefully opened the case and began to hand them one-by-one to Damona.
"After that I found out the captain of the Starfleet ship that rescued me had submitted a recommendation to OCS on my behalf. Wow that sounds crazy now that I'm saying it out loud!" The chance to tell his story was relaxing and empowering at the same time. His story was one of infiltration, and surviving in a hostile environment; then taking the biggest risk of his life for a bigger reward. He smiled for a few seconds before he noticed the container was empty.
"That os quote a story, glad to hear you made it free and all in one piece, I presume. Hopefully they dont come looking for you although I doubt we'll run across them out here. Atleast as long as we dont have to enter Klingon territory." She had opened up her case and began pulling out a number of supplies including tools to cauterize wounds and stabilize broken bones. They weren't her favorite thing to have on hand but field medicine was much less glorious than what one usually had to deal with sickbay. The goal was to stabilize until additional treatment could be provided.
She started taking the cases from Joker and then lining them up. "Open up these and start taking out trays, its mostly the hypos along with the gear for the crash cart and anything needed to preserve remains."
"Let’s hope the "remains preservation" trays get dusty in that locker that's my piloting philosophy," Joker said, offering a small, confident smirk. He cracked open the next case and carefully lifted out the hypo trays, handling them with the precision expected of a Starfleet officer. As he passed them to her, making sure his fingers didn't clumsily clash with hers, he leaned slightly against the med station console.
"Besides, I'd hate to ruin my perfect record with you watching" he added, his tone softening into something a bit warmer. "But now you know my whole dramatic backstory, Lieutenant. What about you? What did you trade to fly a Blackwatch crate like this?"
